TV Goodness: The Reality List

TV Goodness, the last list.  When I say reality TV I don’t mean shows like the Bachelor or Big Brother, I mean cooking shows, competition/elimination shows and comedy shows.  I don’t watch a lot of them, so this will be a short one.

Face Off: I love this one for the amazing transformations that the contestants create. Face Off is a competition/elimination show for make up artists and it’s brilliant.  I am constantly amazed by the vision that the artists have and how they execute them. The contestants are given a theme and must work their magic over a 2 or 3 day period which includes casting molds, creating prosthetics and make up application. Season 3 is set to premiere on August 21 and airs on Syfy and Space in Canada.

Impractical Jokers: Four friends compete to complete outrageous and embarrassing stunts in order to not be the loser of the competition.  By stunts I mean they go into a public situation and approach people while being told what to say by the other 3.  And the stuff is usually not something you would say or do, ever.  The loser must then do a final and completely humiliating act.  I’m not sure what channel this airs on but I recently saw it on Showcase in Canada.  Season 2 is yet to be released.

Hell’s Kitchen:  Perhaps this one should be a guilty pleasure but damn I like it.  Chef and restaurant mogul, Gordon Ramsay holds a competition once a year to find a new head chef for one of his many restaurants.  The chefs are always fighting and I never like any of them and Ramsay is always yelling and I swear there are more bleeps than actual dialogue.  “It’s f***king raw!” Each episode is always the most shocking one in Hell’s Kitchen history.  I don’t know why I like it but I do.  Season 10 is currently airing.

MasterChef: Gordon Ramsay again, joined by Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich search for the best home cook in America using weekly cooking challenges.  The chefs must prove they can perform to the standards of the 3 pros in order to become MaserChef, win a cash prize and get their very own cookbook.  This is another show where I enjoy seeing the innovation and creativity that people can come up with using a basic premise to create something amazing.  Season 3 is airing now.
